Membership Information

The Family Service Council of Ohio (FSCO) is a statewide charitable organization sponsored by charitable, voluntary, family serving organization devoted to enhancing family living. It functions as a collaborative effort and serves as an advocate for sound state and local policies affecting families and for enhanced family serving systems. The member agencies are represented through the regular participation of their executive directors and the optional inclusion of staff members on designated issue/program task forces.

Membership in FSCO strengthens the "voice" of families in Ohio and helps ensure that consideration is given to the aspects of policies and programs that impact families. Participating agencies provide valuable "grassroots" insights to identify needs and trends; work collaboratively to ensure that the needs of their families and communities receive attention; draw upon the expertise of agency board members, administrators, professionals, volunteers, and families and, collectively strive to strengthen family living in Ohio. The Council's focus is on families and its participating members provide a diversity of perspectives which highlights the differences and similarities in families and communities.

Participation in the Council provides direct and indirect benefits to the families and communities served by the members and has numerous advantages for the agency. In striving to strengthen family living in Ohio, the Council reviews/discusses/disseminates a variety of information, promotes networking, encourages service development, facilitates state and local external relationships, and maintains access to various resource persons/entities. Members of the Council actively advocate for families, participate in a variety of activities, and utilize the networking/information opportunities to support/enhance family living in Ohio and agency services to families.
