About FSCO

The Family Service Council of Ohio, formed in 1919, is a statewide organization committed to strengthening family living in Ohio through education and advocacy. In promoting the Council's belief that "Strong Families mean Strong Communities", the Council strives to enhance family living and family serving systems in Ohio by actively advocating for/with families; monitoring and disseminating information on state legislative and administrative policies, programs and services that impact families; and, facilitation the exchange of information pertinent to strengthening family life in Ohio.

 

COUNCIL PURPOSE

The purpose or purposes for which the corporation is formed are exclusively charitable and educational.

 

MISSION STATEMENT

The Family Service Council of Ohio strives to strengthen family living in Ohio by serving

as a medium for the exchange of ideas and information

and by serving

as a spokesperson and advocate

for sound state and local policies and services affecting families.

COUNCIL OBJECTIVES FOR IMPLEMENTING THE PURPOSES

(Articles of Incorporation-as amended 10/78)

  1. To assist executive directors and voluntary boards of directors of family caring agencies in maintaining recognized standards in the family service field.
  2. To strengthen management capacity in member agencies on all levels.
  3. To stimulate service innovation in member agencies.
  4. To acquaint and educate member agencies with legislation, federal and state; funding potential, public and private; and, to assist in procurement of resources.
  5. To stimulate the development and sharing of professional knowledge, techniques and programs in the field.
  6. To encourage the development of legislation supportive of strengthened family life in Ohio, and the development of non-profit family service agencies.
  7. To disseminate to the public, through the membership, information pertinent to improving and strengthening family life throughout Ohio.
  8. To inform political entities in Ohio of the basic need of Ohio families and individuals.

 

BASIC PRINCIPLES

** INDIVIDUALS are considered within the context of FAMILIES and

FAMILIES are considered within the context of COMMUNITIES;

**The GOAL is SUPPORT AND EMPOWERMENT OF FAMILIES; and,

**The public sector fulfills its obligations and responsibilities to those most in need

OHIO'S MOST FRAGILE FAMILIES.
